How does promo code work

Promo codes are optional for every reward. They are useful when enforcing limitations on use and tracking redemption of rewards.

Rewards associated with promo codes should be specific, such as "Free dessert with dinner" or "50% off on your birthday". We strongly discourage use of vague rewards such as "A special offer on your birthday".

Promo codes work differently depending on whether you have an online store or a brick and mortar store.

Online Store

You need to create your own promo code and enter it in your shopping engine which should  track usage and enforce any limitations *, such as use once per email or expiration date. You enter the same promo code in your birthday club. You can use different codes for signup, birthday and monthly rewards. We simply send that code to all customers. We don't either enforce usage limitations or track redemptions.

Brick and Mortar Store

You don't need to create your own promo code but can if you wish to. If you don't enter a promo code we generate a unique code for every customer.reward email that is sent out. This code will be used to track redemption of rewards and track customer visits   when that feature is added in a future release.

* If you are using WiX Stores please note that currently it doesn't enforce limitations on a per customer base, see https://support.wix.com/en/article/request-limiting-coupon-usage-per-customer.
